After a years of planning and reading, we bought our first RV last fall. This will be our first season and we are excited. Despite all the reading and advanced preparation I have done, I know there will be a steep learning curve especially on our first trip. Does anyone have recommendations for a kid friendly site (I have a 4 and 2.5 yr old) that would also be good for our learning trip? I live near Annapolis, MD. Our trailer is a Rockwood 8317ss

The closer to the Philly area, the better. They don't have a camper or a tent, and she wants a campground where her kids could really enjoy. Thing is, my kids are so used to the rugged style of camping. It's a pretty tall order, but is there any campground that you can suggest that would have a nice compromise?

Campgrounds Near New York City

We're planning a trip this September to take a few friends of ours from overseas out for a bit of camping. It's the first time that they will be coming here and they pretty much enjoy the outdoors. One request that they asked was if we could take them to New York City and see the sights there. So we figured to spend like a month in New York. A few weeks camping in the Appalachian Mountains and then the last few days being tourists in New York City. We're thinking of staying in NYC for about 2-3 days only. Is there an RV campground that you can recommend to us near the city where we can stay during this time?

Camping near Washington DC, reasonably priced? Or RPI/TT/Encore?

We just joined this great App for all the reasons to make our travels a pleasant experience. My wife and I are going on our third year as 'Full Timers', prior to this next year; we have be working as volunteers in State and Federal Parks. When you do this most of the year, it limits how much of this great country we get to visit!

So we are working our 'Bucket List' for 2012 and see as much as we can by using our TT membership/Coast to Coast/Passport American/Elks and soon to join Escapee's. Traveling all the time can be a burden on the budget, especially the cost of Diesel these days!

Now for the question: Best places to camp outside of Washington DC that we can take the train or tour bus into DC. We plan to stay for at least two weeks to see most everything there is to see.

Your input and suggestions will be appreciated, hope to see you all on the road this next year.

We're aware it will be hot but we want to have a patriotic experience.

Any suggestions?

Took 105 over Richford Mountain. Some great colors up there. But what really surprised me was how great the colors were in New Jersey of all places.

Camping in a Brooklyn Wilderness

You may be surprised to find out that you can camp in Brooklyn. And by camping, I'm not talking about putting a tent on a sidewalk in the middle of the city. There is a Marine Park in Brooklyn that offers a family camping program.

Here's a short article about the 'http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/09/02/camping-in-a-brooklyn-wilderness/'>family camping program in Brooklyn.
