There's been an announcement that gallinippers will be making an appearance again in Florida, particularly the Central area this summer. These giant mosquitoes are about 20 times the normal ones so you can imagine how painful their bites can be.

We're having a camping reunion later this year, and her one request is that if it will be possible to camp in a park or near one that allows you to interact and swim with the Manatees and those kinds of things. So far, I haven't seen any yet. I really want to surprise her for this. We will be camping in Florida for this. Appreciate your suggestions.

That time, he only had a standard van, not a camper. The officer who gave him the ticket told him that the reason was because the van is considered in Florida to be a car, and not an RV, and it's illegal to sleep in a car in Florida State Parks. Tried to check this info out in websites, but so far came out empty. Is it safe to say that this is not true?

I'm having a difficult time finding parks that 1) Have availability...and it's only February and 2) finding one that allows a monthly rate during this time. I made a reservation at Gulf Coast RV Park based upon reviews in the RV Park Reviews and then discovered that the reviews that are favorable are for the wrong park. Now I'm worried...other reviews that ARE for this park are terrible. So, now I've made another reservation at Doc's. Reviews are mixed and their website shows no pictures. Has anyone stayed at either if these parks? If so, should I cancel and keep looking?

NASCAR campgrounds?

How are the NASCAR themed campgrounds? Need suggestions for really good campground that's available. We'll be stopping in Palm City on our way there. I've been trying to find one that's available online, but they seem to be all filled up. What are the chances of being able to stay in one without a reservation here? Thanks!

Having never been here before and I had heard it was a pleasant place to stay. I booked a reservation with my credit card. I thought it odd that they wanted to immediately charge for one night.

My wife and I decided to go and ride out and check out the facility. When we got there, we checked in with the front office and was told it would be okay to look around. As we were driving back to the site that was to be given to us for our stay, we realized that this type of camping was not for us. The lots are so close together that when you go to the bathroom your neighbor can hear everything that you are doing. The lots are extremely close together and privacy would be at a premium. Not what I would call camping at all.

When I returned home, I called the resort and asked for a refund. I was told, in no uncertain terms....they don't give refunds of any kind! I was even calling a week and one half week ahead of time. Which I felt was very unfair. I can assure everyone that I will NEVER stay at this resort for that kind of atitude by their staff.

It is a nice park if you don't mind staying in a sardine can. If this resort is so hard up for people to stay and feel it necessary to not return their money for a stay that needed to be cancelled and was given adequate time for a rebooking by someone else, it doesn't say much for their resort. The only thing that they should have told us in the beginning was to bring the K-Y because we got a good screwing from this park.

I'm looking for a place that offers plenty of hiking opportunity, possibly some kayaking, and white water rafting. It would be nice if it was near a small town with some cool places to eat, grab a drink, and do some shopping (my wife is a 'picker'). We'll probably stay 5 nights, so we can move around campsites.

Can someone help?

Thanks,

I have found one site picture (#28) and it is fantastic looking- too bad it is the only site in the whole park that is already reserved for the week I plan to be there. Since they are a state park, they have only electric and water hookups. The river is a great place to wade in the rocks and water. They also have a swimming pool but we haven't ever used it as we like to go in the Spring usually and it's chilly then. The CG is mostly wooded but has a lot of pine trees. The CG is a great visit for a weekend. It is right off I-75 in Jackson, GA. In the area, there is a catfish restaurant that I understand is a good place to eat. Buckner's is a another popular place for down-home southern cooking with a lazy susan buffet style dinner right at your table. A must visit local attraction is Dauset Trail Nature Center. It is free! but they do ask for donations. They have some really neat wildlife to see and it is landscaped very nicely.

If you're looking to take your RV rental on a drive though the gorgeous Vermont foliage this fall don't fret, we have the first five of 10 Great Drives that you can take in the area--courtesy of Vermont Living Magazine--to make the most of your trip: 1. South Vermont Loop - This is the so-called 'Gateway to Vermont,' and to discover it you will need to drive your motorhome rental from Route 7A at Manchester Center south. This route takes you all the way into Massachusetts before doubling back to the Manchester Depot again via Route 7 north from Bennington. A sidetrip to the Somerset Reservoir is recommended.

Our whole camping experience there was unbelievable. The people are terrific - considerate and helpful, more than willing to spend time with you. The location was spectacular, right at the foot of the mountain, with a gorgeous view of the valley below. The campsites - - - Spacious, level, clean, shaded . . . everything you could want to make your stay comfortable. The bathhouse was immaculate. We stayed 3 evenings, and I can honestly say I'm ready to go back now ! They are pet-friendly, reasonably priced, and close enough to the highway to be easily found --- but far enough away that you don't hear it. The last morning there my dog and I startled 4 deer that were near our coach: a very nice way for nature at this pretty campground to say 'goodbye.' I can't recommend this campground enough....
