| Quiet, remote wilderness after treacherous rocky road | |
It's a long, slow, rough 21 mile rocky road, not for the faint of heart, to get there. Road is one car wide only on a lot of it - next to drop offs. Thankfully we didn't have to back down to let anyone pass! The views are breathtaking. Be sure to bring enough water for drinking and clean up, as there is none. No trash or cell service either. Gather your own wood. Except for the pit toilet, this is a true wilderness area. It is maintained by volunteers only. Do your part to keep it clean and bring in everything you'll need. River meanders below the campground, so not audible or visible from the sites. which we were a bit disappointed about, but it is accessible walking distance down the road. Best to fish with waders, as there is a lot of scruff by the edges. This is not the best destination for fishing. This is for those who want a very remote wilderness experience. Sites are divided on each side of a hill with large trees, so are fairly private, but some of them are fairly unlevel. The table, the fire pit and the tent area in our site (#9) were all very crooked. We'd give the campground three stars, but the landscape five.
We stayed here in a Tent. | | Comments (0) |
