Needs Maintenance & Upgrades

Whether you're tent camping or traveling in an RV, this campground leaves some things to be desired. We arrived at about 8:30 on a Monday night and were greeted by a friendly park ranger, who assigned us a campsite. There were many vacant ones. There are dumping stations, potable water stations, showers and bathrooms throughout the park, but most of the campsites are stony and considerably out-of-level. None have hookups. Even using stacked leveling blocks and hydraulic lifts on our RV, we could not completely level our motorhome. Our neighbors, who were tent camping, complained about the rocky surface of their campsite, which made them uncomfortable. Although the fee of $22.75 wasn't bad for a quiet night's sleep, most of the roads on the campgrounds were in terrible condition. If you like shade and can deal with a rocky, sloped campsite, this campground is one of the nearest to New York City. It could be much better with some maintenance and upgrading. The setting is beautiful.

We stayed here in a Class A Motorhome.
