Local Directions: From Minneapolis/St. Paul It takes approximately 5 hours to drive from the Twin Cities to Sawbill Canoe Outfitters. Take I-35 North to Duluth, and follow signs for MN Highway 61. After leaving Duluth on Highway 61 you will drive approximately 80 miles along the North Shore of Lake Superior to the Town of Tofte. From Tofte you will turn left (north) on the Sawbill Trail (County Road 2). The Sawbill Trail is located across the highway from the Coho Cafe, a good place to eat, and just before the Tofte General Store. After turning on to the Sawbill Trail, you will drive 24 miles to the end of the Sawbill Trail, where you will find Sawbill Canoe Outfitters, and the Sawbill Lake Campground.
