Great little getaway
RICKATFORD
Newbie

We have been going here for years and really enjoy it. Good beach, decent facilities. Not really quite enough boat docks. Overall.....good place to hang. For the previous "newbie" tent camper whos complaint was ants.........really, you know you're camping in the woods right? News flash, ants are all over the world, next time take a little bug spray and build a barrier.

We stayed here in a 5th Wheel.

First and Last time

This was the first time we camped at Old Salem campgrounds and will be our last. We should have known something was wrong when we were the only one at the tent campsite. We was expecting a relaxing two days of fishing and swimming. We could not fish for all the ants, could not cook for all the ants, and the last straw was when ants got into our tent. We ended up sleeping in our vehicles since the gates were closed. At first light we broke camp, packed everything up and left. At the gate we talked to the host about the problem, he went on to say that they had a problem, even had ants in their house at the campground, THEY DID NOT SHARE THIS INFORMATION WHEN WE REGISTERED AND REFUSED TO GIVE A REFUND FOR THE UNUSED NIGHT stating that we had to cancel within 24 hrs to get a refund. If we knew that the campground was this bad we would not have made a reservation. In my opinion a rating of 1 is still too high for this campground.

We stayed here in a Tent.

Beautiful Beach

This was one of our few attempts at camping in a tent. This campsite made it pretty easy. They had a beautiful beach, great fishing. DO NOT come here if you want a place with many amenities that isnt totally real camping. This place really does put your skills to the test.

We stayed here in a Tent.
