This generator-free campground is located at the southeast shore of Lewis Lake, about 8 miles north of Yellowstone's south entrance. All sites are first-come first-served; traditionally this is one of the last campgrounds to fill in the park.
The campground is located on a tree-covered hill and is located just a short walk from the lower loop to the lake shore. While there are no official restrictions on the size of vehicles allowed, the campsites are small, few of which are 'pull through' sites. Potable water is accessible in the campground, and rest-room facilities are vault toilets. There is a picnic area on the entrance road to the campground.
Restaurants, gift shops, a gas station, and camper services can be found 6 miles north at Grant Village. Evening ranger programs are also located at Grant Village.
