| Great campground for nature lovers | |
Whether you’ll fall in love with this campground or not will depend upon what you expect from your camping experience. It is pet-friendly, allowing dogs to walk on the beach, has just 34 primitive campsites with water, cable TV and electric hook-ups, some rental cabins and reasonable rates, but doesn’t have a swimming pool, tennis court, shuffle board, miniature golf, decent Wi-Fi, nearby shopping or entertainment venues.
If you want to use your RV’s satellite receiver, the trees shading most of the campsites will probably block your signal but the campground’s included cable TV surprised us with hundreds of high-definition digital channels. We had a steady three-bar Verizon 4G cellphone signal. There are a couple of dump stations on the site and an extra-cost honey wagon service to empty RV waste tanks, but no sewer connections. Most of the electric hook-ups are just 30 amps.
Occupying the end of a peninsula called Indian Pass, what this campground DOES offer are spacious campsites with picnic tables that are either right next to the sea and the uncrowded beautiful white sandy beach or just a stone’s throw away. Most campsites have breathtaking views of the water. Saint Vincent Island national wildlife refuge is just a short boat ride. A public boat ramp and wet slips are conveniently available. Bring what you need before you arrive because the on-site store offers only a few snacks, sodas and books/DVDs to lend.
We stayed here in a Class A Motorhome. | | Comments (0) |
