Stay Away
June 25, 2014
Hickory Hollow is a terrible choice if you want to stay near Starved Rock State Park. The staff are extremly rude and change the rules to suit themselvs. They started arguing with my wife as soon as we set up our tent, when we tried to get our money back I had to threaten to call the police before they gave me a refund. I should have read the reviews first!

We stayed here in a Tent.

Livin the good life

Good location near the freeway exit. Easy access to sites, which were fairly large with nice mix of pull through and back in. Good wifi but NO cable or over the air television stations; they don't tell you this until you have already paid. Did not use their showers or pool.

We stayed here in a Class A Motorhome.

Horrible lady at the front desk
May 29, 2013
We stayed here more than once and the first couple of times were not too bad, if you don't mind the constant noise from the expressway. We returned because it is a clean park and the pool is well kept. The last time we were there will be our last time though. The lady working up front is a tyrant. I can appreciate wanting to keep the park up to certain standards but this lady was out of control. We had to switch the date of our original reservation by a week. I called to change it 5 days before instead of the 7 days that I was supposed to call by and I thought I would have to kneel in front of her and beg forgiveness!! I was repeatedly reminded that I was not calling in 7 days before so technically she could charge me for my original reservation along with the new dates. And was told that if I called to change again I would be charged. I thanked her and promised that we would be there. I thought that was the end of it; unfortunately, I was wrong. When we arrived and checked in she was all over us. "Oh you're the people who changed your reservation. Yeah I wouldn't have done it again for you. Like I said it wasn't 7 days" REALLY?!? She went as far as to drive down to the people's site next to ours and pour a pitcher of water on their fire. REALLY?!? We will not be returning to Hickory Hollow.

We stayed here in a Popup Trailer.
