Nice Lakeside RV Spots and Lots of Trees
tumbleweed
Bronze
December 14, 2014
An older campground buried in a temperate rain forest south of Pisgah National Forest. Has lots of charm and good lake access, plus some lakeside RV sites. Unique compared to other lakeside campgrounds; there are full hookups for many of the lake sites. A separate swimming pond was clean, well kept and with good water quality. The lake is good for kayak/canoeing with a nice waterfall only a mile row away.
Neighboring Dupont State Forest is packed with hiking trails and other waterfalls (some pretty good ones too). Only criticism are the largely poor-condition gravel roads and limited wi-fi. Also be prepared for lots of rain. Prices are so-so and there's a two-week maximum stay.

We stayed here in a Class A Motorhome.
