Interesting Mix of Old and New

Nestled in the Catskill Mountains on multiple levels, less than a two-hour drive from New York City, this clean, well-landscaped campground offers enough to keep most campers comfortable and occupied.

We arrived at 8:40 pm on the Friday prior to Labor Day weekend and were warmly greeted at the check-in point. Inside the attractive store at the check-in counter, we were given a color map of the campground and surrounding area, numerous brochures, list of activities and trash bags to use during our stay. We were escorted to our campsite by a staff member who thoughtfully shined his headlights into our site until we were able to get our coach positioned. Although it was a 50-amp full-hookup site, we experienced two problems with it. Even using stacked leveling blocks, there was enough slope that our motorhome's hydraulic leveling system could not get our coach completely level. The tent campers across the road were noisy. Visiting the campground office the next morning, we were offered a choice of several other sites that were level and away from the party animals.

This campground represents some dichotomies. Most RV sites offer only antiquated 30-amp hookups, yet their free WiFi was strong and their cable TV system offered 265 digital TV channels, most of which were HD, plus more than 40 analog channels. The large swimming pool sparkled and the bathhouses were clean. Their modern indoor pavilion was perfect for large groups.

We stayed here in a Class A Motorhome.
