Huge Campground, Not Well Maintained

This is a huge campground just off the Natchez Trace Parkway. First thing - when coming off the parkway, note there is a low-clearance bridge with 11 ft of clearance. As a result, although, we were only 0.5 mile from the campground entrance we had to drive 21 miles around in a loop to get there. There was a dirt track to side of the road that went under the bridge that would've given more clearance but it was uneven and I didn't like risking grounding the motorhome.

The campground is huge and split into three areas: 1) cabins; 2) a KOA area; and 3) a Thousand Trails area. The KOA area has electric and water sites for RVs and primitive sites for tent camping. We stayed in the Thousand Trails area and had a full hookup 30 amp back in gravel site. It took us about 10 mins to find our site due to the sheer size of the park and the numerous one way systems that for some reason are not shown on their site map. The roads to get to the site were uneven and narrow.

Sites are close together with little privacy. Our site was uneven and the paved concrete pad corners were broken off with jagged "leg gashing" edges exposed. That pretty much summed up this part of the campground. Everything was a bit rundown. Being Thousand Trails there were a lot of permanent or long term residents, but people were friendly. The water pressure was weak.

On a positive note the WiFi worked well and, of course, we could stay for free.

We stayed here in a Class C Motorhome.

A great park with fantastic facilities. Friendly staff. Make sure to drop by the shop. We were camping and the tent got hit pretty hard by the rain but overall this was a great stay.

We stayed here in a Tent.
