| Nice but no shade; near civilization | |
Several years ago, I was at this park before Hurricane Wilma went through, and area nearest the entrance had quite a few trees. Unfortunately, Wilma destroyed this area, and they leveled it, put in a bunch of concrete pads with no trees. Definitely for RV's only. Also the garbage truck came to the area at 3am which I cannot believe they allowed that. An otherwise good experience was totally ruined by that.
Last year, we went to the other area where there was much more vegetation. The problem is there are no sites with overhead trees. Mostly what I call "pineapple" trees, about 6' high. There was sufficient privacy, but they daytime sun was a killer.
I probably won't go back there until the middle of winter.
We stayed here in a Tent. | | Comments (0) |

| Okay For an Overnight Stopover, But Not Much Else | |
Sandwiched between Highway A1A and a busy freight train track, this is not a place to find a really quiet night's sleep. During mid-December when we stayed here, freight trains passed by at least once an hour. The treeless campsites are clean and paved, have water and electric hookups and this state park is reasonably convenient to I-95. Charges for camping aren't too bad but Florida offers much nicer parks for the same or lower rate. This campground is good for an overnight stopover, but I would not want to stay here for more than that.
We stayed here in a Class A Motorhome. | | Comments (0) |
