| OK temporary location. Close to Joshua Tree NP. | |
40' class A was a stretch on site after unhooking. Sewer connection at back of site. WiFi not at site. Close to NP. Ok for 2 nights w/o sewer hookup.

I have been staying here the past three winters and love it. It is very close (2 miles) to Joshua Tree NP and the Marine Base. There is a wonderful 9 hole golf cours that's very inexpensive & within walking distance. This park has a well-equipped fitness room, enclosed pool, hot tub/sauna, tennis courts, clean bathrooms and showers. However, what sets this park above other winter destinations is the people and activities - from Saturday dinners with music and line dancing, fitness and pool exercises, crafts. You name it, they do it.
Plus the people are just great friendly people. The park has good sites with back-ins and pull-throughs with full hook-ups. WiFi is pretty good but gets a little overloaded but they are working to upgrade it. It is the desert so there are not many trees but the premium sites have trees. No fire rings but picnic tables and the sites are level on gravel and most have a concrete pad.

| Good location but overpriced and poorly maintained | |
29 Palms is probably the closest campground outside of Joshua Tree NP. It's very near Oasis Visitor Center. For that alone, it's sure to have a lot of guests. Still, the price is too much for the kind of service provided here. Absolutely no shade on the sites so the campground has the feel of a parking lot. They're not level. Full hookups available but wi-fi is non-existent even though they advertise wi-fi. The bathrooms weren't clean when we came to stay. Lots of seasonal residents, but many of them were friendly. Staff were welcoming when we checked in. Lots of road noise and artillery noise from the nearby marine base. It's good for short stays but next time I'll visit only when I don't have other options.
