Great state park, former fam camp for Myrtle Beach AFT

This awesome state park is protected from the winds coming in from the ocean by a large berm that provides the entrance to the park. This used to be the Myrtle Beach AFB campground before the Air Force closed the base. There are lots of shows to see along the strip. The K & W cafeteria is an outstanding place to eat and is just down the hwy from the campground.

We stayed here in a Travel Trailer.

This park has been a wonderful experience. The sites are level and well shaded, plus healthy tree population. Roads are paved and there is a store as well as plentiful bathhouses. Bathhouses are not perfect but good enough. If you don't like one, it's a short walk to another. Plenty to do both at the park and its surrounding areas. We enjoyed the stay.

We stayed here in a Travel Trailer.

Very Good State Park

Myrtle Beach State Park is a very nice state park. It has everything you'd want in a RV campground - level sites great for big rigs, good shade, full working hookups, paved interior roads and clean bathhouses. A few pluses include a well-stocked camp store, excellent nature programs, a fishing pier and activities to keep the kids from howling with boredom. The campground host is also a very helpful soul who goes out of his way to make sure we're settled comfortably. There are two reasons why we didn't give this place five stars, though. One is the mosquitos are vicious. The other is the sites are dirt and can get muddy when wet. But overall, it's a great state park and we'd love to come back.

We stayed here in a Truck Camper.

I haven't camped here yet so I can't speak to the RV sites. We travel to this park every summer to enjoy the beach and park ranger programs. The beach is wide open, very few people. Restrooms are clean. Snack shack is also available.

Educational programs given by the park rangers daily during the summer (several each day). My children, 10 & 6 years old, loved them. I also learned a few new things about the native wildlife!
