Negotiating a Cheaper Rate for a Campsite
We just got a really pleasant surprise from the manager of the campground we're staying at right now in southern AZ. We actually planned on just staying here for two weeks, but we really like it here so much that we tried to see if maybe, just maybe, we could extend for another two weeks for the monthly rate. We talked to the manager and believe it or not, he agreed! Lesson learned: don't hesitate to ask, but if you do, make sure that you ask nicely.

Re: Negotiating a Cheaper Rate for a Campsite
Great to hear that there are still some campground managers that really know a thing or two of good business strategies. Many would even think that this is really a bad move, but actually it isn't, especially during the off peak season. I do hope that other campground managers and owners would follow suit.

That manager really knows how to run the campground. It's definitely a win-win situation. You get the discount, and they still get revenue from the campsite. Much better than just having it empty.

Re: Negotiating a Cheaper Rate for a Campsite
You're lucky! We stayed in this campground a few months ago and after being there for a month, we asked if we could get a weekly rate for an extra five days. The campground manager refused and insisted that after the monthly rate, we will need to be charged the daily rate for every extra day. That's half of the monthly rate we paid! No surprise that we just stayed until the month was up.

Re: Negotiating a Cheaper Rate for a Campsite
We used to frequent this campground in Richland, WA. We initially stayed for two weeks, but we decided to stay for an extra week since we didn't really have any plans to go anywhere. Being a regular camper here for the past 2 years, we figured that perhaps the campground host would be kind enough to charge us the monthly rate instead of the weekly rate. They were willing to, under one condition...we couldn't leave until the entire month was up, which was fine with us.
