Keystone's "Luxury Home" model
Just came across this article about Keystone's 5th wheel model that will have many new features, such as a residential HVAC system, keyless entry, and optional security alarm.

To me, a security alarm seems a little bit over the top. Is it necessary? Will these alarms be very sensitive? It could make campgrounds quite noisy. Your thoughts?

We are full time RVers and the best alarm is to put the big "scare" lights on at the same time you hit the alarm button on the truck. It works. We have a 2004 Montana and it is built tough and for total comfort. We have had it 4 years and love it. Today you have to just be aware of your surroundings and try and not put yourself in a prediicament

So it sounds like an alarm is a necessity?

My 2000 Tioga came with an alarm. In 2001 while at a CG in Ohio, it went off for no reason at 4am, the whole CG was up and I couldn't shut it off, I found the panel and cut the wire. Needless to say, my 2007 Tioga has no alarm. I don't know of anyone with an alarm.

Seems like it would only cause headache. I guess it makes sense to protect your stuff while away for the day but not at night. I wouldn't mind having an alarm with a very quiet noise but I think a bunch of LED lights flashing all over would work better and annoy less people. The whole point is to draw attention to the camper to stop someone and lights would do that just as well in a CG environment. Car alarms are loud because the car is stranded distantly in some parking lot. Not with people crowded around.
