It depends on the year, it may not have a pilot, it may be a DSI (Direct Spark Ignition), if you want to run it on propane, make sure the propane is turned on & the air is purged from the lines, if it is DSI, you will have a button on the control panel inside that says DSI, put it to that position & go outside & listen to the water heater, you should hear a low roaring sound, (if it lit).
If you wish to run it on electric, go outside, remove the cover from the water heater & look for a little black rocker switch, look hard as it may be slightly hidden behind the tube, make sure this is in the on position. put the cover back on. CAUTION: Before doing these step, make sure the tank is full of water, running the electric element without water in the tank WILL burn out the element. |
