Renting and RV: great way to learn
So I just got back from a trip in which I was able to rent a 25 ft c class .It was sooo much fun and I loved having the RV as it was very convenient for us. In fact we loved it so much that we are now thinking of buying one of our own. I really think everyone should try this at least once. The fees and rates are not as high as I thought they would be going into it, and there are rental centers all over the country. My question: Does anyone have any BAD experiences with renting an RV? Did I just get lucky this time?

We only rented once, & everything went pretty smoothly, although it was only for 5 days.
My advise on buying is, don't be in a rush, do a lot of research, go on the manufacturer's web sites & look at floor plans,go to the RV Shows, walk around in them, sit in them, make sure they have everything you even think you might want, walk the dealer lots, kick tires, so to speak, ( just don't knuckle under to salesman pressure), and if money is an issue, you may want to check into buying used, not someone else's used junk, but fairly newer GOOD used, well taken care of.
We looked for about 4 years before buying, although we bought new. Size is important too, especially with children, there may be plenty of room when they're little, will there still be enough room when they are teens. The point is, don't rush into something you'll sorry for a year or two down the road.. Good Luck, I hope you enjoy yours as much as we do ours.

Great advice, thanks :) I think we are leaning towards new as well. We would buy used, but I am nervous about using something that someone else may have potentially abused. One thing I think I would do would be to have it inspected, at least all of the mechanical parts. I have just heard so many nightmare stories about used RVs, it would make me sleep a lot better knowing I got a brand new one.

We rented an at RentMyBudgetRV.com They let private parties list their rv for rent. It was nice renting a personally owned rv instead of a corporate rental. We had such a great experience we bought a class c and now rent ours out and it has paid for the rv. And we get to use it when we want. Thanks
