Camping with Infant-sleeping
Hi All

My husband and I just bought our first travel trailer, a 2005 Nash 26z. Our first trip is scheduled for the first weekend in June.

Our son will be 5.5 months old our first weekend. At this poing he sleeps in our room, in a sidecar attached to our bed at night and he naps in his crib. Our trailer has 3 bunks, a jack-knife sofa, dinette and a walk around queen.

I'm thinking that the dinette would be the safest place to bed our son down for the night. I do have an inflatable bumper to use to keep him from rolling off.

My husband thinks we should put him down in the middle bunk for the night. However, I'm not sure I want to fish him out of a bunk for the middle of the night feedings. (I'm hoping the bottom bunk is where our labradors will sleep - since its at ground level.)

Originally I had planned to use a pack-n-play, but our floor plan does not allow for one to be set up, even with the slide out.

I'd LOVE any suggestions that you may be able to offer. On this, or camping with an infant in general!

You can look for a Graco Travel Lite pack 'n play - it has smaller dimensions than a regular pack 'n play so it might fit. You could also try a Pea Pod to put on the bunk - it will keep him in one area, and he won't be able to roll off the bunk. You can also use the Pea Pod outside for naps/playtime as it has a bug-proof netting covering it.

I don't like using the dinette as a bed, it is a hassle to tear down and put back up...

Re: Camping with Infant-sleeping
We use a cardboard box broken down- one end under the seat cushion, and another up on to of the table with the creases at the edge of the table and the cushion- along with an portable infant bed to create a sleeping space for ours at 4 months when we went to alasks last summer-

We haven't figured out how to deal with her this summer being a year old now.

Thank you for the sugggestions. I will definitely check them out.

Although I love this floor plan, the slide includes the fridge, dinette and the couch - which cuts at a diagonal toward the dinette. It really kills having a flat space to set up baby gear, LOL.

Look at this video. I like this dad a lot. He is very funny in the whole video. And very interesting ways he showed how to keep babies safe while camping.
