87bounder- possible tranny issue?
I have a 1987 fleetwood bounder and went out on the open road last august. We broke down in no-mans land in utah on I-70 where the rv wouldnt move well. I had to use alot of power to force the RV into 2 rest areas. I had to use power to move down hill. My p-30 chassis has a drum parking brake that I had dis-assembled fearing it was hanging up. The tow company dropped the drive shaft and 6 hours of inspecting brakes, parking brake, tranny fluid, the shop found nothing wrong. They put it back together and drove home. In the mountains near vail is started again, it was at night, I pulled off the road when I noticed the performance drop. I rested for 10 mins, put it in reverse to provide better clearance to rejoin the road and then rested for an hour at the next rest stop.
I'm concerned. The RV has 55,000 miles and I want to go back out there someday, I also want to travel through the eastern mountains this spring enroute to Florida. I had done a full service brake job and full tranny fluid flush/clean before we left last time. The parking brake needs to be re assembled, it shown no signs of wear, and the cable was seized so it needs replacement.
I used the first gear lower than drive to decend the mountains and tried to keep speed lower than 45-55 without wearing my brakes out. It was my first time driving like this.
What should I do?- Thank You all in advance..any suggestions will help?

Re: 87bounder- possible tranny issue?
I had a 1993 Bounder P-30 chassis for about 5 years, only problem I had with the parking brake was a leak, in the drum that engages the parking brake when put in "P". I replaced that and kept the brake shoes adjusted up properly. I wish I could point out your problem, I would say though, maybe when the system heats up a valve in the auto brake might bleed off fluid causing the parking brake to drag. Old used Bear, is the authority on P-30 auto brakes, you might look him up on the forum and inquire of him. I'm not a authority on transmissions.
