First of all try getting a new model. Newer models are more gas efficient. But in all try to change your oil and do maintenance this always helps my brothers car and it works the same with RVs. The tips section of campingroadtrip.com offers other great ideas for RV maintenance. check it out.

Taking care of your tires is one of the best ways you can get the best mileage on your RV. I don't know if it's just me, but when I don't take time to check my tires before we head out, I often feel like our trailer has a bit of a drag to it when I drive. That drag can mean more gas being used up for a shorter distance. You can check out this article about that: http://www.campingroadtrip.com/outdoor-living-newsletter-august-2011/how-to-get-the-most-from-your-rv-tires

Slow down. Keep it at 55 maximum and you will save up 20% of fuel costs over traveling 65.

Re: How to get the best mileage?
Travel light. When you add the weight of all the stuff you pack, plus the weight of everything inside your RV or trailer, plus the vehicle, plus you and the other passengers, this can be a lot for your RV or trailer. The amount of fuel your RV or trailer needs to burn to reach a certain speed is more on a fully-loaded vehicle than a vehicle that doesn't have that much stuff inside.
