I've never experienced that, but I've had heard a couple of my friends complain the same thing. Decided to do some research about it just to make sure. Apparently, I did find that there are TWO Passport America websites with TWO different addresses: one having the main office in Florida (http://www.passportamerica.com/about) and one having the main office in Mississippi (http://www.passport-america.com/ContactUs.aspx). They have different toll free numbers and contact infos and stuff. I think this is what harold meant that there are two kinds of Passport America memberships. If you're quite new, it can really be very misleading.

harold: Just on the safe side, make sure that the campground is listed in the www.passport-america.com website (it must have a dash in between the words), not the www.passportamerica.com one. The one with the dash is the official website so you're not supposed to have a problem with it in the future.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this, Matthew. Apparently that was what happened. The campground that I chose was from the www.passportamerica.com website, not the one with the dash. I agree with Melissa. It's very confusing.

bukhrn: I actually called and wrote to PA about this. Unfortunately, they weren't really that helpful about the situation.

Re: Feedback on Passport America
Since we're talking about Passport America, would just like to ask if Camp USA is now part of Passport America?

Re: Feedback on Passport America
Passport America has explained the two websites and two companies several times on other forums. There are two, but there is 100% overlap of the participating campgrounds, The difference is in marketing to the campgrounds. We have used them over 100 times and never had a problem. They have saved me thousands of dollars. Campgrounds come in and out of the system and the books can never be kept up to date. The website is usually right, but sometimes, CGs do not renew and don't tell them. They have a Smart Phone app that is even better. There is only one app and it is combined between the two websites and also incorporates the new Camp Club USA. With the Smart phone app, you can coordinate with GPS and drive right to the door. RVParkreviews.com also has a mobile site for IPhone (works with Android also) that you can bookmark and use to look up reviews for checking them out. Any serious camper should be members of this 50% discount club. We have found that the distribution of quality of CGs is about the same as the total mix of GCs. The concept is to fill sites that would otherwise be empty and get something rather than nothing. Win Win for us and them. The owner would be stupid to allow hald price on nights he would otherwise be full. Smart owners realize this and work their restrictions to their advantage, If it wasn't for the restrictions, we would be paying full price elsewhere. Work through the restrictions, they allow the discounts to exist.

Re: Feedback on Passport America
I doubt anyone is discounting here about the fact that PA offers a lot of great discounts. The problem is that there seems to be some problem in the communication and overseeing somewhere. You said it yourself that some campgrounds don't renew and don't tell them, and that campgrounds come in and out of the system. Not to mention that I don't think that PA is quite aware on how campground hosts are when it comes to honoring their discounts. Personally, I don't see PA's inability to keep themselves updated with the status of their memberships with campgrounds. We pay a membership fee to them so that we can avail of the discounts that they promise. The least that they can do is to make sure that the information that they provide us is accurate.
