| A FEW QUESTIONS I NEED ANSWERING? |

HI EVERONE
WE ALWAYS NORMALY RENT AN C CLASS RV WHEN WE COME TO AMERICA, BUT RENTING IS NOW OUT OF THE QUESTION BECAUSE OF THE COST (4 WEEKS HIRE £5500) OR AROUND $8000 , SO WE ARE THINKING OF BUYING AN RV,
1, WE WILL NEED TO GET IT INSURED SO HOW EASY WOULD THAT BE,
2, STORAGE COST PER MONTH IN CALIFORNIA ANYONE KNOW OFF ANY SECURE PLACES.
3,REGISTERING IT WITH THE DMV, ??????????
IF THERE IS ANYTHINK I HAVE LEFT OUT THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT PLEASE LET US KNOW ANY INFO WOULD BE GREATLY RECEIVED.

1, I know you will get others but the best I could find is Progressive Insurance Co.. Call them direct, not through an agent.
2. California I don't know but my daughter stores hers for $300 per year in Florida.
3, You will have to have a residential address.
FYI, My daughter is interested in selling her Class C, it's a 2010 31' Winnabago Outback in mint condition, only about 3000 miles on it. It's in Venice Florida if interested. |

hi thankyou for your reply,
that has helped me alot, knowing what other people are paying for storage.
we do have friends in california so will proberly register it at there address.
we are looking on rv trader online at prices for rv's,
it is getting to exspencive to rent now, we always rented from el monte.

You can check out this article on How to Get the Best RV Insurance. It has a list of different insurance companies that you can contact to get a quote for an insurance policy for the RV that you would like to purchase. Some dealers can package an insurance policy with the purchase of your RV, which is actually more economical. What I know is that you will need to have a US registered address to be able to purchase an insurance policy. If you have relatives living the US, you can ask them if you can use their address so that you can get the insurance policy here. I have a friend from Australia who was able to use her brother's address here to get the insurance policy for the RV that they bought and they didn't have any problem.
As for registering with the DMV, the requirements depends whether you will be getting a used RV or a brand new one. It also depends on where you'll be registering the vehicle. Basically, you'll be needing the following:
Completed Application for Title or Registration
Proof of ownership, such as Certificate of Title OR Application for Duplicate Title. If you got a loan, you won't have this.
Bill of Sale.
Smog certification (if it's a used RV at least 6 years old)

Angela pretty much covered everything here.
As for the storage in California, it really depends where you plan to store it there. There are a lot of different storage facilities there and California is quite a large state. Are you looking at Northern, Southern or Central Cali? |
