I think dad started taking me to camping when I was about 5 or 6. Then again, he really only did camping as a past time. Not really what I would consider a die-hard camper. But I'd agree with everyone else here. It really depends on your skill and ability to handle the kids. If you can handle 3 year olds, then go ahead. I don't really see anything wrong with it. As for those that are saying that they are too young, it's probably coz they've never really did any camping themselves.

That's so true, ej!

My son's about 4, and when some mothers in his school found out that my husband and I take him camping with us, they are shocked and I guess a bit appalled. One even commented on how I can even manage to sleep at night putting my son in a situation that is just dangerous. To which I asked her if she has ever been camping, and she flatly told me no because it's just way too dangerous. Sigh! Oh well!
