First trip with a new camper
My brother's got a new camper and it's going to be delivered just in time for our family trip this coming Spring Break. We initially planned on going to Colonial Williamsburg, which is quite a distance away. His wife is a bit concerned that the trip is a bit too far for their brand new camper, particularly with the dealer (just in case something goes wrong). My brother and I are not really too worried since there will be about four of us that have been RVing for quite a while now. But I'd like to know from you guys if it's not a problem to go ahead with the trip, or should we choose someplace a bit closer just in case something goes wrong?

Re: First trip with a new camper
Opt to postpone your long trip to one that is closer to the dealer. That way, your brother can check everything out and see if there are any problems so that you can return it to the dealer the next day if there are any. It will also give him more of an idea of the things that they would need for the camper, and since it's close to the dealer, it's going to be a lot easier to get them.

Re: First trip with a new camper
Since your brother just bought the camper, I'd suggest to go for a test camping trip some place close to the dealer first to check on how everything is working and if there are any problems. That way, if there are any problems, you can have this immediately resolved with the dealer.

Re: First trip with a new camper
If you've made a reservation at a campground there that has got a no refund policy, tell your brother to ask the dealer if it will be possible to hookup the camper for a night or two on their lot. Some dealers allow that and understand that it's part of you checking the camper before taking it out for a long trip. Another option is that you can choose to add another trip much sooner at a campground close by just so that you can test it out. It's a good excuse to be able to add an extra trip which, for me, is always a good thing.

Re: First trip with a new camper
Go for an extra camping trip somewhere near the dealer where your brother got his camper. That way, you don't have to make changes to the reservations that you already made. At the same time, your brother can have his camper checked right away if there are any problems.
