| Driving with a Full Fresh Water Tank? |

We're planning to do a bit of dry camping this year. Since there's not going to be any hookups, I was thinking of filling up our 100 gallon fresh water tank before heading out. It just occurred to me that that's going be more than 800 lbs. Given that, I was wondering if it's safe or advisable to drive our Motorhome with that much fresh water in our tank?

In the past, we just carry small amounts of water because of the weight thing and then just fill it up when we got into the campground. At one campground that we stayed at, we were advised by the campground host while we were registering not to drink the water in the campground. Apparently, there was some kind of leak that happened in the city and the water system got polluted with E. Coli, including theirs. Since that time, we never leave for a camping trip without a full fresh water tank.

| We just returned home after 7 weeks on the road. I travel with a full tank because and simply put, you will need it. Yes, weight is an issue and the fresh water ends up in your holding tanks which you will need to empty so you may as well carry a full tank. Weight goes from the fresh water tank too the holding tanks. I empty our tanks at a Flying J truck stop or campgrounds who will charge you (in my case) $5 to $10 to dump your tanks. You can refill at the campgrounds and truck stops also have potable water. |

| Well, with a 100 gal fresh water tank, you obviosly have a class A, or a very large 5er, either way, I wouldn't worry about the safety, as others have said, you're going to need it, as when you get where you're going, you may or may not find water to fill your tank. |
