Re: Interesting Finds While Hiking
Just this past week while camping at a park here in TN maintained by the county that we were in, we were exploring one of the trails and found an old cemetery with about 2 doz headstones in it. Most recent burial had been in 1928, it consisted of mostly children of various ages who had died in the late 1890's. Any adults were between 1900 and 1928. It appeared to be 3 different families and I presume maintained now by the county as it is not rundown as one would expect. There was a strange set of what looked like cement and stone steps or seating of some sort which is what led us up the hill to see what they led to. Seemed very odd considering the terrain now as also nearby there were massive rock formations scattered through the steep hills that over many years have eroded and formed areas that looked like a fortress of sorts. The lake that now surrounds the area was manmade probably in the 1950's so if I want to let my imagination run wild a bit I would hazard a guess that at one time 1000's of years ago that area had been covered in water. We found it to be a pretty interesting find.

Welcome to the forum, coco. It could have been that you clicked on the new thread by mistake. I'm sure it's not going to be an issue.

Re: Interesting Finds While Hiking
That really does sound interesting, Msbeky. Over the years, I've come across a lot of abandoned cabins while hiking. It really gives you a glimpse of how the people lived back in the day and just let your imagination run wild.
