Should You be Tipping?

One of my colleagues in our office came over to me during our break to ask a few things about camping. She and her husband just recently got themselves a TT and are now planning on their first camping trip soon. During our conversation, she asked me how much should she leave as a tip to the campground host and staff after providing them with assistance. The question caught me by surprised. I've personally never bothered to leave a tip to them whenever I go camping. I thought that's how it's always been. Her question has got me now wondering should we be leaving some form of a tip to them?

All my years camping and on the road, I have never seen or heard of anyone tipping at a campground.

While I do tip, IF someone has gone "above & beyond" I think tipping has gotten out of control, it has become expected, whether it has been earned or not. I have never heard of tipping at a Campground.

I only gave a tip once to this guy who really went above and beyond for us. When we arrived at the campground, he not only accompanied us to the site, but help us hook up and settle. Best part was that he noticed that there were a few branches that may cause us problems with our slide outs even before we noticed it. He took it upon himself to cut the branches off and stayed to make sure that our slide outs worked just fine.

I agree. Only if the staff member is really deserving do I tip.
