Re: Should You be Tipping?
I know that it's not mandatory to tip when you go camping. But like what others here mentioned, if the person was really helpful, it doesn't hurt to do so.

Re: Should You be Tipping?
Once when we went camping with a few friends. We were planning to go hiking, but our friend didn't want to bring their dog. One of the staff members was really kind enough to look after their dog for us while we went out hiking. He did quite a good job that every time that he passes by, the dog would always run over and greet him. I'm sure that it wasn't in his job description, so we really appreciated his effort.

If I ever got that kind of service from any staff in a campground, I would definitely give that person a tip. Sadly, no one has given me something half close to it.

Re: Should You be Tipping?
I only gave a tip one time. One of members of the staff at the campgrounds dropped off the news paper every morning. He also brought down a few bundles of fire wood that my wife and I were carrying back to our site. But he did use a golf cart. And he heard that we were having some friends who lived in town over for dinner one night. He asked if we would need a second picnic table to seat everyone? Then he brought one down on the Bobcat for the night and picked it up the next day.
He saw that I was up early every morning when he dropped off the news paper. So he even brought me a cup of coffee in the morning when he dropped the paper off!
This showed us how much that he wanted us to have a great time even if we were only there for a week. So I went out of my way to make sure that he got a tip from us.

One of my colleagues in our office came over to me during our break to ask a few things about camping. She and her husband just recently got themselves a TT and are now planning on their first camping trip soon. During our conversation, she asked me how much should she leave as a tip to the campground host and staff after providing them with assistance. The question caught me by surprised. I've personally never bothered to leave a tip to them whenever I go camping. I thought that's how it's always been. Her question has got me now wondering should we be leaving some form of a tip to them?
