Camping with Manatees?
One of my nieces are crazy about Manatees. We're having a camping reunion later this year, and her one request is that if it will be possible to camp in a park or near one that allows you to interact and swim with the Manatees and those kinds of things. So far, I haven't seen any yet. I really want to surprise her for this. We will be camping in Florida for this. Appreciate your suggestions.

Try the Everglades National Park. From what I know, during the months between December and April are the best months for it. But if you're heading out earlier than that time, and you're willing to change your camping plans, you can head over to Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary near Cape Cod.

You can also try Blue Spring State Park in Orange City Florida. The manatees come in as early as November. But I don't think you can actually swim with the manatees. The most we were able to do was see them from a distance with one of the river tours that they offer here.

You'd actually find more luck at Blue Springs. Unfortunately, you can't swim with them. In fact, they close down the swimming areas when they arrive.

Re: Camping with Manatees?
We took this tour when we went out camping with some of our friends at Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. The tour takes you to the Crystal River which is a bit of a distance from the State Park. That time, we paid $40/person. That's for everything. We were all adults then, so I don't know if they got an age requirement since you mentioned you'd want to do this for your niece. Can't really remember the name of the tour group. I'll try to ask my friend who organized it. You might be able to find a few in Google.
