Places to visit in South Carolina
We will be in South Carolina for a week. Passing near Dillon and following the I95 and veering back onto the I20. Any recommendations for attractions, historic places or plain old good places to eat? Appreciate any local knowledge and "must dos".

Many thanks from the road. :-)

Near Dillon you have the "famous tourist trap" South Of The Border.

Is that a "must go" or a "must avoid, hang onto your pocketbook with every last ounce of energy"? We're ok with kitsch, but blatent taking of every dollar is not a happy way to spend your vacation!!! Help!!!

lol, well put! You can't miss the place, about 50 miles before it on I95, you will start seeing large billboards advertising the place. They do have a very nice campground in the back. (cheap) We stopped there once just to see, I must admit they got just about anything you can imagine and yes, watch your wallet.

Re: Re: Places to visit in South Carolina
I now see what you mean by not being able to miss this place!!! If it wasn't for the giant fireworks store, or the giant Pedro guy, or the giant Hot Tamales sign this little "town" (?) would be a drive by speck on the map. The drug store and that candy place next door is testimony to everything plastic, high fructose corn syrupy and the only thing we could find that was in its (relatively) natural state was a bottle of water!

Thanks for the tip. Worth the stop (once!) and 10 cent post card.
