going full time with children
With jobs making it hard to pay rent and other bills, we have come to live with my parents. Not a good thing as we have 2 adults, 1 full time child and 1 part time child and 3 full time dogs and 1 puppy looking for a home. Pluss, its not up to my parents to care for us at our age.

Finding a place to live in our new low price range is not so good. Either we like the place but not sure about the landlord. Maybe not so honest or just an out right loon. Or we like the landlord but... there are a lot of drugs going in and out of the building.ont want to be in, I HAVE KIDS!! I couldnt believe that we have sunk to this all time low. I started to deal with a black hole I just dont want to be in and felt that all these years I had worked for nothing, NOTHING!!

I am now working part time and going to school and my husband working part time now too. I finally came accross a camper for $500. I poped up. $500!! I have that!! I can do that!! Would it be so bad? We have looked at apartments smaller. We wouldnt have to deal with drug addicts on the other side of the wall.... We go camping a lot, (tent camping) so I know there are a LOT of RV spots close by and then we can move from one to the other, to avoid problems. The guy talked to us about what size ball we needed and we went to get all we needed to get the camper. Told him we were coming, he said he would keep an eye out for us and 20 min later we pulled up right as he sold it to someone else. So we are still looking.

I was wondering if anyone has encounterd problems with being called on for rv living full time. What issues arise from close minded people? Has anyone had problems with animal control not likeing that you have dogs?

Re: going full time with children

There are lots of people who full time with children, some have a great experience and others not so good. It depends a lot on the family and what they want and need.

As far as closed minded people, you have them no matter where you live or what you live in, don't worry about them and live your own life.

Sounds as if you plan to stay close to where you are, and if not you will have to consider school for the children, etc. etc. Probably you will look for work outside RV parks and just pay your rent, because quite honestly working in parks does not pay all that much. There are lots of variables and probably you having four dogs will be a problem in many parks and campgrounds. Many will only allow one or two and depending on the breed may not allow them at all. A lot will depend on how well you control and clean up after your dogs in many places.

It is doable with children, and of course you will encounter special circumstances that older retired folks do not have, but you can do it if you want to.

Happy RVing.

Re: going full time with children
Thank you very much. I homeschool already. So that will stay the same. I do plan on staying in this area, at least for now. I have a part time job and attend school here and my husband works at petco part time giving us diacounts on dog stuff, so traveling wont realy be an option, at least for a while.
ning stove that can be transported
I found an old RV I paid $800 and it needs cleaning and fixings. Its small but I think we can manage. If we can winter it up as its not 4 seasons and then make it look nicer on the inside as well I think it will do for this year and then on to bigger later after money has been saved. The table area is coming down to make crate area for the dogs. The bunk area will give us a place to lay out for sleep or reading or what ever. I will carpet the floor and at night can even lay out a sleeping pad to make extra bedding. I want to get an outdoor wood burning stove that can be transported by the back of the truck and be able to sit around it on cold days, wrapped in blankets.

I used to have a rabbitry and even though this is not rabbits, its still living things and keeping places warm in the winter cheaply is what I have gotten good at. So Im going to skirt the trailer, make a small cage to put around a heater that will stay under the trailer to keep things from freezing. The all wire cage will prevent it from tipping over. also, some heat will go through the floor and help warm us in the trailer. I am also going to wrap all things under to also help freezing prevention. It has a rather large heater in it for the space and plan to buy or make a cage that will go around it and attatch to the wall to prevent burning.

I am going to get 2 plastic tubs and store the dog food in it out side the door to save room inside. These tubs are great, they keep all the food dry no matter what and in the summer, as long as its in the sun, it will kill any bugs that try to get in it with the heat and in the winter, its just to cold for those things to live.

Re: going full time with children
I have found storage in an RV park for 2 dollars a day while I rebuild it, basicly. They have no problems with well kept and mannerd dogs and dont have any problems with their breeds, they did ask. I have 2 lab mixes and 1 great dane mix. Even while I go out to work on the trailer, I am welcome to bring them as long as they are on short tieouts near us. They have had people stay in their park full time lately as people have run into the same problem we have. I didnt see any children though. They charge $350. a month on that and you pay ellect. You get the net free and sat cable. They even have a pool in the summer. Do you think thats a good price? I dont know what these run normally or in other places. There is an onsite shower and bathroom should we have any problems with ours.

Is there any suggestions? Any advice? Anything we need to know in preparing this camper for winter when it wasnt meant for that? Thanks..
