Black water gauge not working properly
Modified By CampingWife on 9/8/2014 8:32:32 PM)
We have a class c forest river Forrester. The black water tank gauge seems to be stuck. It reads full even when we have just emptied. Any suggestions? I suspect buildup. What's worked for others?

I have a 2941DS Forester, and what I have learned is, that like nearly all black tank gauges, they are notoriously inaccurate. You most likely have a piece of toilet paper, (or other stuff) on the sensor. if you are going to a full hookup campground, put about 10 gl of water in the tank before you leave, by the time you get to the CG, it should have sloshed around enough to dislodge the debris, when you dump, be sure to use LOTS of water, & don't dump until it's at least 3/4 full.
If it's stuck on the Full reading, look down the hole, if you don't see it, it's probably not full.

Try to make sure that you clean out the black water tank real well. And try to flush out around the sending unit. I had the same trouble and after I cleaned out it worked just fine.

Good advice so far. You might also want to install a Tornado Tank Rinser in your black tank. This will spray high pressure water all over inside your tank and help to dislodge any toilet paper off from your sensors and help keep your tank clean inside. The reason to make sure your tank is at least 3/4 full before emptying it is to help to help it build up enough pressure to pull toilet paper and stuff from off your walls. If you empty it when your tank is not full enough you wont get the pressure or pull inside your tank to clean it.

I've been using the Walex porta Pak deodorizer drop. These work and they work well.

Plain and simple. My wife and I just moved into a 5th wheel full time. Stepping on that toilet pedal and opening that hole above the black water tank is no longer a concern. It was terrifying before we got there. They do an amazing job of eliminating the odor. As far as breaking waste and paper down, it seems like it's doing the job as well.
