We did away with our carpet 2 years ago and replaced with Allure vinyl flooring. Chose it because once the pieces are snapped together, they are waterproof, unlike ordinary laminate. It's one of those floating floors that murffdog was mentioning so you don't need to glue or nail them to your existing floor. We did have to add a 1/4" plywood subfloor when we installed it because it's quite thin so that it would be in the same level as it was when the carpet was still installed. For the slide runners, we added "Slide Slickers" which I found while shopping with my husband for the Allure vinyl flooring. So far, so good. |
