Fixing up rotten wood flooring
Did a bit of checking in our trailer over the weekend, and discovered that a few of the wood in our flooring has started to rot away. The damage doesn't seem that bad. So far it's just the edges. Haven't really checked on the one underneath. Of course, the immediate thing that came to my mind is to replace the wood. But I was wondering if there is any way to repair it first? Budget has been quite tight lately.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Fixing up rotten wood flooring
You can probably use one of those wood restoration kits you can buy in your local home depot to repair the wood flooring. I'd suggest to first check on how deep the damage is. Sometimes, even though the wood is not that rotten, the damage can go all the way down to the insulation and stuff. If that's the case, then you'll need to replace these as well. Otherwise, the damage will still spread.

I agree with mary. Even though the surface may not show that much damage, that doesn't mean that the damage is not that bad. Assess it first and then see. Sometimes, replacing it may actually be cheaper in the long run.

Re: Fixing up rotten wood flooring
It depends on what kind of wood was used on your flooring. If it is a solid, hard type of wood, marine epoxy can fix the problem. It won't work though if it is plywood since it doesn't stick that well.
