Why Do RV Tires Wear Out Easily?
One thing that I've noticed since we got our motorhome is that we seem to have to rotate and change the tires here more often than with our other vehicles. The tires we had on them were about 5 years old, but has so much wear on them that we had to change them. The tires on our SUV has been on them for 15 years, and they are still looking great.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out why RV tires have such a poor life expectancy, and what are the ways that I can extend it to more than 5 years. I honestly find it so outrageous on how much we'll have to spend every 5 years for brand new tires.

Re: Why Do RV Tires Wear Out Easily?
A lot of the people here have been able to use their tires more than 5 years. The key is how you take care of them. There is an article here in CampingRoadTrip that has a few tips on how to do that.

Here is the link: http://www.campingroadtrip.com/outdoor-living-newsletter-august-2011/how-to-get-the-most-from-your-rv-tires.

Hope it helps.

I agree. It's not just with RVs. It goes the same with cars and SUVs. Personally, though, RV tires require a lot more TLC because you tend to drive it in rougher terrains than you'd do with cars and SUVs.

Not to mention that it carries a lot more weight.

You don't really have to change it every 5 years, especially if it still is in good condition. I'd recommend to have it checked by a tire specialist once a year and also rotate it just to be on the safe side.
