| Fiberglass or Rubber Roof? |

| My husband and I are thinking of getting a new RV. We currently have a 1989 Jamboree and after a number of problems with it this year, we decided it's time for it to retire. Most of the RVs that we checked out have either fiberglass or a rubber roof. I'm wondering which one is better between the two in terms of maintenance. Thanks so much for your help! |

| Fiberglass roofs definitely beat rubber ones hands down. They are less demanding when it comes to maintenance. Fiberglass roofs only need to be cleaned twice a year and then that's it. For rubber roofs, you will need to regularly clean it and treat it. And even with all of that, it deteriorates within just five years. |

Not really. I've had experiences with both rubber and fiberglass roofs. The durability of both aluminum and fiberglass depends on the structure strength and proximity of the rafters. I noticed that fiberglass roofs don't seem to stop curing which can explain why it also gets more brittle with age. Just like rubber roofs, you'll need to regularly maintain it by regularly waxing and compounding it. |

| I agree with Maggie. Used to own a motorhome with a rubber roof. It was a pain! Very susceptible to damage from low branches and needs more maintenance. As for the endless curing, it all depends on where you store it. Of course, if you leave your motorhome out in the open without the benefit of the shade, the roof will eventually get brittle, rubber or fiberglass. But given my experience with both, it's fiberglass roof for me or bust. |

| Also had experiences with Motorhomes with both a rubber roof and fiberglass, and I'll never go back to a rubber roof one ever again. Just way too much of a hassle maintaining. |
