Warranty for Second-Hand Motorhome
A friend of mine is planning on getting a slightly used Class A Motorhome. The financing agent that is attending to them suggested in getting a warranty on it. It's for 5 years and it's going to be about $6500. Supposed to cover for everything. He's getting it from Conejo RV in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Would this be an okay deal for him or is this too expensive? Any feedback about the dealer will also be helpful.

Re: Warranty for Second-Hand Motorhome
Has your friend had any experience with campers or trailers? If not, then getting this would be a good option, especially you mentioned that it's been slightly used. You don't know how much use and wear and tear happened in that RV. But I have to admit that the rate is way too expensive and way too long. I'd suggest to tell your friend to see if the agent has something for a shorter period of time, like about 2 years or so. That would give your friend enough time to get to really know the RV and your friend might not need it later on.

Hmmm...sounds a bit fishy for me. Warranties are usually free. You don't need to pay to get them.

Re: Warranty for Second-Hand Motorhome
Not really, padmej. Like what Alban mentioned, it's a used RV. Warranties are only free when you get a brand new RV. But if it's a used one, there is no warranty anymore so you really need to get this separately.

Not really familiar with the company, but what I'd go with what angela suggested. Try to find out first if the agent can offer other terms like a shorter coverage period or lower rate. Also what will the warranty cover.

Haven't heard about that dealership. Best to see if you can have the Motorhome appraised first, and see if this will be sufficient to cover any and every breakdowns or repairs your friend will sure to come across. Also, make sure that you read through the fine print for their terms and conditions.
