Like someone is going to carry all the pipe for a free standing hammock while on a hike. :-)

They pretty much do the same thing for a tent, murffdog, so I don't see any reason why they won't do the same if they really want to use a hammock instead of a regular tent.

Good point, maximo. Although personally, I'd still go with a regular tent. I find it to be more secure than a hammock.

Same here, liz. If I'll be bringing pretty much the same amount of stuff, I'll rather go with the tent. I'm more comfortable with it and you can fit in more people.

I tried to stay in a hammock once. Couldn't stay on it for more than two hours. My back was killing me. The tent is so much a better option for me. At least, my back is well-supported.
