What Kind of Tent: Canvas or Nylon?
We're planning to do a bit of tent camping starting this year. It will be me, my wife, and three small kids. From the looks of things, we're going to do this now during the spring and during the fall. I don't think that the kids will be able to handle the heat during the summer.

From the looks of things, we might need a cabin style tent to meet our needs. Most of those that I've found are either nylon or canvas. Which would be the best material and can you suggest any tents?

It's been quite a while since I ever gone camping with a tent. Personally, I'd go with the nylon. Canvass tents tend to be a lot heavier to take with you. The upside to that is that you get more shade, but nothing that a tarp on top of your tent can't fix.

I'd personally suggest to get a canvas tent. Yes, they are heavier and bulkier than nylon tents. But that's the only the disadvantage that I see using them. Canvas tents are a lot more durable than nylon tents. They are also a lot safer too. Nylon tents easily catch fire.

I'd also go with the canvas tent. Cool in the summer and can easily be warmed in the winter.
