Camping out for tickets

Have you ever camped ot for tickets to an event?

I feel like this has become a trend at highly sought after events, such as Duke basketball games, or Sarah Palin book signings. Do people become friends with each other? Does it get hostile? Is it fun?

I think it is for the most part fun. I've heard that some people have gotten married met in one of these camping situations.

Last night people were camping outside of an arena in Peru for a Metallica concert.

I've camped out in front of a Chic-Filet before the grand opening of a new location. The first 100 people got free Chic-Filet for a year! We'll worth the wait and passing time was easy with friends around.

My 18 yo dd & her bestie camped out in NYC for a free Jonas Brothers concert this past Summer. They met two college students from NY and they have been keeping in touch with them via FB since. They took the train in, walked to the GMA studio and camped on the sidewalk for the night. They had a great time! I was a little worried, but there were so many other people camped out they were fine.

I have heard a similar story from my niece - she and her friends (3 of them are freshmen in college) spent the entire night outside of Rockefeller Center for the Katy Perry concert. Katy Perry was performing for Good Morning America. So the concert was in the morning. They said she Katy Perry sounded like she had just woken up, but that they loved it anyway. They talk about it often.
