Getting Teens to Go Camping |
|
|
I recently came across this article here about getting your teens to go camping. While my kids are quite young, it dawned on me just how much how things have changed. I remember when I was a teen, going camping was something that was a part of growing up. Nowadays, it's like something that parents have to take an extra effort now to get their kids to do.
Any parents here feel the same way? |

Sad but true. I remember the good ol' days when summer meant heading over to camp with my friends and enjoying some time away from my folks. Also joining the boy scouts. These were what, I think, got me loving camping so much. |

Sad to say that things will eventually change. I guess it's all up to us as parents to make sure that we are able to bring up our kids they way we'd hope. |

For me, it all depends on the parents and how the teens were raised. I've got a teenager and two pre-teens. Yes, there are times that they would rather be with their friends. But we never really had any problems when we go out on camping trips. In fact, there are times when they actually welcome it, usually when they are stressed out with school stuff. |

My kids are just hitting the teen years, and I have to admit, it is a concern of mine. Not really 'coz I love camping. But I've been hearing so many scary stories about the things that happen on social networks these days, and as much as possible, I want to keep my kids as far away from these as possible. |
