What is the most dangerous or stressful situation you have been in out in the bush?
What is the most dangerous or stressful situation you have been in out in the bush?

For example; when I was around 11 or 12 years old I went with my dad, brother, and some family friends on my first extended backpacking trip in the Badlands of South Dakota. The entire trip was around a week and a half. One evening we made camp and as I needed to relieve myself, I grabbed a small trowel we had brought for the purpose, and walked a ways into the woods for some privacy. And as you might guess, I made the mistake of not checking behind me to mark my return trip, so after I had finished my business, I realized I didn't have an idea of how to get back to our camp. Then to make matters worse, my first instinct was to panic, and take off running. Thank God I stopped at some point and realized that I took a walkie talkie in my pocket. I try to call my dad with this walkie talkie. Fortunately, he called back, we kept calling to each other until I found my way back. When I came out into a clearing I realized I had completely overshot our camp and had been headed out into the middle of nowhere. Also, it was nearly sunset, and I had no other equipment with me besides the trowel. It impressed on me at an early age that small mistakes in the wilderness can cascade into serious situations very very quickly.

More than ten years passed, I have my boys. In recently family camping trip , walkie talkies are our necessary camping gears for my boys in case any accidents like my experience in my teen ages.

I bought these walkie talkies from Amazon. Recently, these walkie talkies seems in promotion. If you also looking for camping gears, I recommend these walkie talkies:

My wife and I went camping late in the fall at a campgrounds on a pretty good sized lake. The side of the lake that we were on at the campgrounds was mostly seasonal camps and cottages that were closed up at this late time. And this was the last weekend the campgrounds was going to be open. There was a small town on the other side of the lake. There were a good number of seasonal sites here at this campgrounds and most of them were winterized for the winter storage on their sites. And not many people camping there at this time of the year and the weather was wet and raining and cold like in the low 40's at night. We got there on late Friday afternoon and were going to just stay until Sunday checkout.
So we go all set up and had everything we needed so we thought. We forgot to pack more coffee and we would need some more for the weekend. So I said to my wife that we had enough coffee for Friday night and Saturday morning for breakfast and we could drive around the lake and do a little shopping and see what was in town. So we did later Saturday morning and while we in the store my wife asked what was a good local radio station to listen to to find out what the weather was going to be like. The store owner told us a good and very local station so my wife tuned it in on the way back to the campgrounds. Later after we had dinner and while we were sitting around the campfire we turned our radio on to catch the weather report to find out what it was going to be like on Sunday. Then over the radio we heard a report that there was someone on the other side of the lake near the small town taking pot shots at passing cars and that the police and state police were trying to catch him. It was about 12 miles to the campgrounds that we were staying at. So I told my wife not to worry and that we would both be on guard and be aware of the people around us. We had talked to a few of the other campers earlier during the day and spent a little time talking with them. You know just being neighbors. So I talked to them about the person in town shooting at the cars. One fellow said don't worry the police will get him and that it is to far to this side of the lake for anything to happen. We listened to the radio until we locked up for the night and went to bed. Well guess what? He was wrong! The police did not catch the guy until early Sunday morning on the side of the lake we were on and they found him in the restroom at the campgrounds where we were staying at about 150' away from our site! The police got him and during the interrogation he said that he was looking for a place to stay warn and figured one of the closed up campers would be the perfect place to hide out in. And yes he had not one gun on him but three and they were all loaded. He also admitted to walking into a camper that was warm inside and figured that someone was staying there and were just not there when he broke in. He stayed inside just long enough to warm up and then found the heated restrooms where he was caught breaking open the coin boxes for the pay showers.
I now keep a baseball bat and pepper spray very close to me while sleeping in the camper.

I've been in a dangerous situation when I was at the age of 10-12. The dog tried to attack when I mistakenly reached her nest where she gave birth cute pups. Actually she was trying to protect her babies from getting stolen. Luckily I saved by a senior person who was passing the same path.
