What your kids eat while camping?
Are your kids more willing to try more kinds of food while camping rather than while they're at home? We got three kids, and we noticed that the more that we bring them out to go camping, the more they seem to be more open to eating different kinds of food rather than the usual nuggets, burgers and stuff. How about you?

Re: What your kids eat while camping?
I don't have any kids yet. But I remember when I was a kid, my dad and mom would make camping really like some sort of fantasy adventure. So the food is part of the adventure. It's like in the movies where you get to eat different kinds of food that you may not be used to back where "I came from." Thanks to their creative idea, they introduced me to so many different kinds of really great food even as a young girl.

Re: What your kids eat while camping?
That's definitely a fun way to get kids try out different kinds of food. Back when I was a kid, I remember watching how my mom and dad would really enjoy and rave about the food that they were eating, whether camping or at home or in a restaurant. That was enough to get me curious about the food and I would eventually try it. I think it's really important that parents should make meal time a treat for the kids so that it encourages them to try new things.

Re: What your kids eat while camping?
My daughter has always been the more adventurous of our three kids when it comes to eating. Our boys are a bit more challenging. So far, we've been successful in getting them to eat some grilled fish, which is a huge leap from the usual chicken and ribs that they often what they'd prefer. We went fishing during one of our trips to California. My sons managed to catch a few and when I asked them if they wanted to eat them, they were so excited to do so. Now...if I can just find a way to do the same thing when it comes to veggies.

I agree with mike. Getting your kids to forage and hunt their own food while camping is one great way to get them more interested in trying them out. I started out my kids with fishing, but now that one of them is already in his teens, I've taken him to the next level by taking him onto some hunting trips.
