North Colorado High Park Fire
Just checked on the update on the fire happening in Northern Colorado and New Mexico, and it looks like things are just going from bad to worst. One woman has already died as a result of the fire, and despite all the resources that are coming in from around the country and even from Canada, the fire doesn't look like it's getting contained. A friend of mine that's living in South Dakota just told me that they are seeing the smoke coming from the fires all the way there.

Read that the senator is urging Obama to sign a legislation to allow the forest service to add additional air tankers for their fleet. I certainly hope that this would convince Obama to do so.

The only consolation there is is that the fire was started by nature, and not by some negligent camper.

Re: North Colorado High Park Fire
It's really such a sad thing to see. We were actually planning on heading over there this year, but I guess we'll have to scratch it out for a long time. From what I heard, the woman died in the fire because she refused to leave her cabin even if she was already being told by the firefighters to do so. I gotta admit, I love camping and being outdoors a whole lot, but staying in what is supposed to be a cabin that she really loved with all the fire blazing around is just so not worth it.

I have to agree that in a way, it's a great relief that the fire was caused by lightning instead of a camper. If it was caused by a camper, I could probably wring his/her neck.
