NEW TO CAMPING
My girlfriend and I have never done any sort of camping and we know absolutely NOTHING about it. We want to do a camping-ish vacation next year around this time but don't have a clue where to start.

The big things we want to accomplish:
Pack light
Sleep in tents/cabins
Do adventurous stuff - hiking, rock climbing, biking, kayak, etc..
Minimal technology.

Any suggestions on where to go, what to expect, etc..

We're in Cleveland, OH. Probably would drive up to 6 hours-ish and would like to visit a few places on the trip. 5-7 days.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Re: NEW TO CAMPING
I would start by going to the closest state park near you .If you want to rough it get a tent but either use a friends or buy a cheaper one at first . Inquire at the park about tenting in there park . Ask them any question you have and they will be happy to answer them . I noticed your forum is older so maybe you found out some more things . If you enjoy tenting you will enjoy my popup camper which will be for sale next summer of 2020 . I am about 5 hours from you just off In toll road . You need to pitch your tent where you will have a fire ring for cooking . Or get a propane oven . Cooler, matches or some sort of fire starter . Get a bundle of wood from the park . What else can I help you with?

Re: NEW TO CAMPING
Since you're new to camping, I think you should start camping grounds near to Cleveland, OH.

You can start with the Wa-Hoo campground and bar. They have a lot of features and you'll like that place hopefully.
