I think it's rather unfair of you to immediately assume your kids won't want to even step out and enjoy the park. Give your kids some benefit of the doubt! I got two nephews that love their electronics. The older one actually knows more about my IPad than I do. But whenever we go out for camping trips with the family, they're the first one out of the car enjoying and the biggest problem we have is convincing them that we need to go home.

Get your kids involved with the planning. If they know that you will also allow them to have some fun the way that they want to, and not just force them to do the things that you want or think that they'll enjoy, I don't see why they won't leave the electronics.

Since I've been doing that, I've never had a problem with my son leaving his PSP behind at home each time that we go camping. In fact, he doesn't pack it.

I agree. That gives them something to look forward to, and not just going around doing what all the grown ups want to do.

Go to a camping ground that's got a lot of areas and activities for the kids.
