Drinking Alcohol in the Campground |
|
|
My friends and I had a reunion of some sorts a few months back. Since we apparently took up the hobby of camping, we decided to do our reunion outdoors. And of course, just like the good ol' days, we popped open a few cans of beers. I think I just got one sip when a ranger came over and told us that drinking of alcohol is not allowed in the premises. Apparently, none of us were aware of this policy. No one mentioned it to us when we checked in. It wasn't in any of the papers that they gave us. It wasn't even on their website. We were lucky that the ranger was nice and seeing that we didn't really know about it, he let us off easy. But since that incident, I have been wondering why don't campgrounds mention whether or not drinking alcohol is not permitted in campgrounds. Personally, it would save a lot of embarrassment on the part of the campers if they did. |

I don't know where your looking but every state park that I know of have no alcohol posted. If you google such as Florida State Parks, you will see no alcohol. Private campgrounds are different, I've never seen one that "doesn't" allow alcohol. |

A lot of campgrounds in the south don't allow open alcohol in their campgrounds. We usually keep our alcohol inside with us. You will note in the south, especially in the Carolinas, they are still strict on alcohol. While you can buy beer in wine in many convenience and grocery stores, there are areas around us that still prohibit the sale in any store in their jurisdiction. Just last year, the loosened up a bit on hard alcoholic drinks, and we now have 2 more ABC stores in our county (for a total of 3).
As mentioned previously, most campgrounds will note it on their website. |

Try going on to RV Park Reviews. They post every information except whether or not alcohol is permitted on the campgrounds. While some parks may put it in their website, not all of them do. Take for instance Hardeeville RV where we camped a few months back. There is no disclosure or information about whether alcohol is permitted or not on their campground in their website (http://www.hardeevillerv.com/home1024.htm). Although we didn't really have any problem that time since we just stayed for the night and didn't drink, it's instances like this that can get a lot of campers into trouble when camping and caught drinking alcohol. |
