Matthew,
There is a big difference in being a workamper and a RV Park owner. As an owner you get the privilege of being an employer and all that goes with it, to taking care of guests and advertising. As a workamper, you get the privilege of free time to explore the area you are in, meeting people from all over the place and changing scenery when you want to. Granted as a RV Park owner you also get the honor of meeting people from all over the world and making lasting friendships with them and your employees.
The Western USA is a big and diverse area. You really need to think about what kind of environment you want to live in, mountains, open prairie, ocean front, desert etc... When you pin point that down, look into each private campground in that area and visit them. See what you like and then visit with the owners. You know the old saying, everything is for sale for the right amount of money.
